How We Collect Personal Information

We collect personal information in several ways:

  • Directly from you – When you create an account, purchase products, sign up for communications, participate in promotions, submit audio content, or contact us.

Storypod/Eddi App and Audio Content

To use the Storypod App, you must create a Storypod/Eddi Account and log in with your email address and password. The App lets you:

  • Record sound, speech, voice, or other audio.

  • Save recordings and upload them to a selected iCraftie and to the Storypod Cloud.

  • Manage content and device settings (for example, timers, locks, audio volume, light effects).

To provide these features, the App may access:

  • Identity and account information on your device (for authentication and account linking).

  • Microphone (for recording audio).

  • Images/photos/media (if you use features that involve these files).

  • Network connections (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth) to synchronize with devices and cloud services.

  • Device state (battery, active/inactive modes) and settings (timers, locks, audio/light controls).

  • Push notification tokens (to send app notifications, which you can disable in your settings).

  • Location information (if you grant permission in your device settings).

You can enable or disable specific permissions at any time through your device settings. However, certain features may not work without the relevant permissions.

Important: You are responsible for obtaining any necessary consent for recordings you make through the App. In particular, if you record a child’s voice, you must have the consent of the child’s parent or legal guardian before uploading content to Storypod Cloud or iCrafties.

When you cancel or delete your Storypod Account, associated audio recordings and other content stored in our cloud, and linked to your account and iCrafties, will be deleted or de‑identified, subject to any legal obligations requiring longer retention.

If you purchase products or services, your payment information is processed by third‑party payment processors (for example, Stripe, PayPal). We do not store full payment card details. Those processors handle your payment data according to their own privacy policies and applicable security standards (such as PCI‑DSS).

Behavioral Remarketing and Advertising

We use remarketing services to advertise on third‑party websites and platforms after you visit our Services. Our partners (for example, Google Ads, Microsoft/Bing Ads, Meta, Pinterest) use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your past interactions with our Services.

  • Your browser and device settings (for example, “Limit Ad Tracking” on iOS, “Opt out of Ads Personalization” on Android).

Even if you opt out, you may still see ads; they may just be less tailored.

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law. In general:

  • Account and purchase information is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter, or as needed to comply with legal obligations (for example, tax and accounting rules).

  • Audio content and related metadata are retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion, unless we must retain it longer for legal or security reasons.

  • Usage and analytics data are retained for periods that support analysis and improvement, typically ranging from several months up to about 24 months, unless a longer or shorter period is required or permitted by law.

When we no longer need personal information, we will delete or de‑identify it, or, if that is not possible (for example, because it is stored in backups), we will securely store it and isolate it from further use until deletion is possible.

International Transfers

Personal information may be processed at our operating offices and in other locations where Service Providers are located, which may include locations outside your state or country. Where required by law, we will implement appropriate safeguards to protect personal information in connection with such transfers.

Security

We implement reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If you opt in to receive SMS or email communications:

  • We may send you transactional messages (for example, order updates, account notices) and marketing messages (for example, offers, reminders).

  • Message frequency may vary. You can opt out of SMS by replying STOP or using the unsubscribe link in our messages; you can opt out of email by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or contacting us.

  • Standard messaging and data rates may apply; you are responsible for any such charges.

We may use providers such as Klaviyo to manage and send these communications.

How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise your privacy rights, you can:

  • Submit a request via our contact form: https://www.storypod.com/pages/product-support-questions

  • Use any privacy or “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” tools we provide on our websites.

We will verify your identity as required by law before fulfilling certain requests. We will respond within the time periods required by applicable law. If we deny your request in whole or in part, we will explain the reasons, and where applicable, how you can appeal.

Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising; Opt‑Out

We do not sell your personal information in the traditional sense (for example, we do not exchange your name and contact details for cash). However, we may disclose certain personal information (such as identifiers and internet activity data) to analytics and advertising partners to help us provide, measure, and improve advertising and the Services. Under some U.S. state laws, this may be considered:

  • A “sale” of personal information;

  • “Sharing” of personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising; and/or

  • “Targeted advertising.”

Depending on your location, you may have the right to opt out of these activities. To do so, you can:

  • Visit our “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” page (if provided) or use available privacy controls on our site.

  • Enable a supported Global Privacy Control (GPC) or similar browser‑based opt‑out signal. Where required by law, we will treat such signals as a request to opt out of sale/sharing for the browser and device you use.

Opt‑out choices are generally browser‑ and device‑specific and may be reset if you clear cookies or use a different browser or device.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

Do Not Track

Our Services currently do not respond to standard “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals. However, we do honor certain browser‑ or device‑based opt‑out signals (such as Global Privacy Control) where required by law.

Children’s Privacy

Our Services are designed for families and may contain content appropriate for children, but we primarily collect personal information from adults (such as parents or guardians) who purchase and manage Storypod/Eddi products and accounts.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age without appropriate parental consent. Users must not upload audio or other personal information that identifies a child under 13 without first obtaining explicit consent from the child’s parent or legal guardian. Parents or guardians should supervise their children’s use of our Services.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in violation of applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to delete such information, unless we are required by law to retain it, and to terminate any associated account as appropriate.

California “Shine the Light” and Minor Users

California residents may request information once per year about our sharing of certain personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes, as permitted by California’s “Shine the Light” law.

California residents under 18 who are registered users of online services may also have the right to request removal of certain content they have publicly posted, subject to limitations and exceptions.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in the “Contact Us” section.

Our Services may contain links to other websites or services that we do not operate. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
